Privacy

Last updated 18 August 2026. Hypermile is local-first: the marketing site collects almost nothing, and the app keeps prompts on your machine.

This website

There's no account to create and no form to fill in. This site is a static set of pages — it sets no tracking cookies and embeds no third-party analytics. We count page views with our own self-hosted, cookieless counter: it stores aggregate visits (page, country, browser), never your IP address, and can't follow you across other sites — so there's still nothing to consent to and no cookie banner. If you email us at [email protected], we obviously see that email; we don't do anything with it beyond replying.

The audit CLI

The free audit tool runs entirely on your own machine. It reads your local Claude Code transcripts to build your report and sends none of it to us. Your code and prompts never leave your computer.

Desktop app (local by default)

The desktop app stores usage and compression data in local SQLite databases on your machine. Conversation content in the originals store never leaves your computer. See what we change on your system.

Crash logs & diagnostics

Panics write a local crash file under your Hypermile logs folder. You can export a diagnostics bundle from Settings → Privacy & support. That export stays on your machine until you choose to attach it to a support email or GitHub issue. An optional “allow diagnostics” checkbox is off by default and does not enable any upload today.

Opt-in cloud sync

If you enable “Sync usage to web dashboard” in Settings and link a device token, the app uploads only: timestamps, project labels, model names, token counts, and compression metrics (what was trimmed and by how much). It does not upload prompts, tool outputs, or originals. You can revoke a device anytime from https://hypermile.dev/app/. Sync is off by default.

Accounts

The web dashboard at https://hypermile.dev/app/ uses email magic links and optional Google sign-in. We store your email and session/device token hashes — not your Google password.

Payments

Checkout is hosted by Stripe. This static site never sees your card number. Stripe holds payment details under their privacy policy. We receive the email and subscription status we need to issue and validate a license. Billing rules: Legal — refunds.
